CEBU CITY, Philippines – At least 4,000 residents in three uptown barangays in Cebu City finally have stable supply of potable water.

The Metropolitan Cebu Water District (MCWD) confirmed that the Lusaran Bulk Water Facility has begun supplying water to Barangays Apas, Lahug, and Busay since Friday, November 25.

This means that residents in these areas would no longer have to wait for water rations delivered via the water utility firm’s trucks.

“The additional water from Lusaran will significantly improve the supply in Barangays Busay, Lahug, and Apas,” MCWD said in a statement.

MCWD also said that a brief ceremonial opening of the water supply facility’s stub-out at the Busay Barangay Hall was held on Friday.

Consumers in these three uptown villages were among those who cannot apply for water service connections as the supply of water in these areas cannot meet the existing demand.

The Lusaran Bulk Water Facility aims to supply 15,000 cubic meters per day to MCWD. Construction for the P1.1- billion project was completed last September.
