CEBU CITY, Philippines — The Cebu City Jail Male Dormitory will resume the in-person visitation effective on Saturday, December 17, 2022.
In-person visitation was postponed following concerns they encountered during a 4-day dry run had last November 29 to November 30 and December 1 to December 3.
Jail Officer (JO3) Blanche Bation said that the jail’s Searcher Section assessed that the registration process was time-consuming during the dry run since it was done manually.

That is why starting last Monday, December 12, they had their first day of pre-registration. This will last until December 16, 2022. Bation said that they come up with the pre-registration for their biometrics activation.
With the activation of biometrics, it would be easy for them to check and verify each visitor of the inmates for security purposes. During the pre-registration, visitors need to present valid identification cards and undergo quick interview with jail personnel for recording purposes.
On Saturday, December 17, those scheduled will be allowed to enter the facility from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. If one visitor fails to pre-register, they will still cater registration.
“As long as scheduled nila sa dalaw, i-accommodate gyapon sila [for registration],” Bation said.
Bation said that they are allowed to cater at least 25 percent of the jail’s total population in a day. The jail houses around 6,000 total inmates.
During their dry run, they only catered to at least 400 visitors in a day. With the activation of their biometrics, Bation said that they expect more visitors will be able to visit their jailed family members within the allowed period.
The visitation will only be done from Tuesday to Saturday with only two visitors allowed for each inmate.
Here are some of the reminders from the Cebu City Jail Male Dormitory for their ongoing pre-registration.
