MCPO personnel submit their urine samples during a surprise drug test on Wednesday, January 11.

MANDAUE CITY, Philippines — At least 50 personnel of the Mandaue City Police Office (MCPO) were subjected to a surprise drug test on Wednesday, January 11.

The 50 personnel came from the different departments of MCPO and were randomly picked.

The surprise drug test was the first to be implemented this year.

MCPO deputy city director for operations and spokesperson Police Lieutenant Colonel Franc Rudolf Oriol said that more random drug tests will be conducted until all their 600 personnel will be tested just like the previous year.

“This is just a part of the regular program dinhi sa MCPO, atoa ni nga gituyo para ma maintain nato ang integrity sa tanan’g MCPO personnel nga wala gyuy malambigit sa drugas. This is part of our discipline and policy sa Mandaue,” said Oriol.

The result of the tests is expected to be released on Thursday, January 12.

Those who will yield a positive result would be subjected to a confirmatory test.

Policemen who will test positive for drug use will be dismissed from the service and will face administrative charges, said Oriol.

Last year, only one from the MCPO tested positive for illegal drugs and was already dismissed from service.       /rcg
