CEBU CITY, Philippines – State meteorologists forecasted that the country’s dry season or summer will officially begin this week.
The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration in Mactan (Pagasa-Mactan) on Monday, March 20, said that the northeast monsoon, or locally known as amihan, will end within the week.
In turn, the country will be entering summer, said Pagasa-Mactan weather specialist Jhomer Eclarino.
“Karung week, expected nato ang possibility na materminate na ang northeast monsoon,” Eclarino said.
As of Monday, the amihan continues to affect the extreme northern part of Luzon, Pagasa-Mactan added.
Meanwhile, Cebu and the rest of the Visayas region will experience generally fair weather on Monday. Eclarino also said that light rain showers and localized thunderstorms are also expected.
“Padayun gihapon ta nga magmonitor sa atong weather and thunderstorm advisories,” he added.
