MANDAUE CITY, Cebu—The Mandaue City Police Office (MCPO) now has a new acting chief of police.

Police Colonel Maribel Getigan officially took over the post of Police Colonel Jeffrey Caballes on Friday, August 24, 2023, during a turnover of office ceremony at the MCPO’s headquarters in Camp Demetrio Mendoza Cortes in Barangay Centro. 

Getigan is the first female police director of the MCPO. She is a former director of the Danao City Police Station.

Before being the acting director, Getigan was formerly the chief of the logistics division of the Police Regional Office in Central Visayas (PRO-7), to which Caballes is now assigned.

Caballes served as the city director of the MCPO for over a year, or from August 3, 2022. 

The ceremony was headed by PRO-7 Director Police Brigadier General Anthony Aberin.

Aberin applauded Caballes for his outstanding performance in service, including his campaign against illegal drugs and anti-criminality. This includes  the fast and successful rescue of a kidnapped 8-year-old Filipino-Korean girl in barangay Bakilid last August 12.

Aberin also hopes that Police Colonel Getigan will continue to keep maintain  Mandaue City’s peace and order situation.
