CEBU CITY, Philippines— A trio of Cebuano photographers just made their mark in photography after being hailed as winners in Pagcor’s photo contest.
This prestigious competition, holds a special place in the hearts of photographers and enthusiasts alike, as the winning images will be prominently featured in the 2024 Pagcor calendar.

Mobile, conventional photography
The contest featured two categories, catering to both mobile and conventional photography.
In a captivating display of their photographic talents. three Cebuano artists, namely Reymund Mejica Requina, Jumelito Capilot, and Celbert Palaganas, soared to the summit of their respective categories.

Why Cebuano photographers won
Their images resonated deeply with the judges, leaving an indelible mark on the contest’s rich history.
Notably, this year’s competition drew an astounding 5,400 submissions from every corner of the Philippines.

Winning photos
Here are the winning photos:
The Golden View of Mt. Utopia. This was taken in Sagubo, Kapangan Benguet by Reymund Mejica Requina, one of the grand prize winners for the conventional category.
The Elusive View of Panimahaw. This was taken by Jumelito Capilot in Panimahawa Ridge, Impasug-ong, Bukidnon, which bagged the grand prize award for the conventional category too.
This last photo was taken by Colbert Palaganas titled, ‘Remnant of the Golden Past’ taken in Silay City, Negros Occidental which is also one of the grand prize winners for the mobile category.

“Winning three awards as Cebuanos in a national photo contest feels incredibly rewarding and pride-inducing since it is the largest and most prestigious national photography competition organized in the country. It’s a testament to the talent and creativity that exists within the Cebuano community,” said Requina.
