CEBU CITY, Philippines – Forty-six-year-old Denise Daguman Dipay was driving his motorcycle in a dark portion of a road on his way home from a normal day at work when he was repeatedly shot and killed by an unidentified riding in tandem.
Dipay’s tragic end happened in Barangay Capitol Site, Cebu City on Wednesday evening, October 4, 2023.
The alleged shooting took place at around 7:00 p.m. in a dark area along Jasmin Street in the barangay.
Dipay was identified through his driver’s license recovered from the crime scene. It said he was a resident of Lapu-Lapu City, Cebu.

Dipay reportedly works as a manager of a private company located around the area where the attack happened.
Initial investigation by the Abellana Police Station revealed that the victim was onboard his motorcycle and was heading home from work when he was suddenly attacked.
Three bullets to the back
Two assailants onboard a motorcycle shot the victim three times using a still unidentified firearm. The bullet hit the victim’s back causing him to fall off from his motorcycle.
The assailants then hastily fled as the victim collapsed to the ground.
The victim was rushed by responding emergency personnel to the nearest hospital for medical treatment. However, he was declared dead on arrival by the attending physician.
An investigation by the Abellana Police Station showed that the alleged suspects were two male persons onboard a motorcycle.
CCTV’s help
The station is conducting further investigation and checking closed-circuit television (CCTV) footage in the area to get the plate number of the motorcycle used by the attackers.
Authorities hope the CCTV footage from establishments around the area will help them identify the suspects.
Meanwhile, Scene of the Crime Operatives (SOCO) will try to determine the firearm that was used in the shooting.
They also hope to identify the suspects and the motorcycle being used as well as to determine where they came from.
Clean record
The police station also said that the victim had no record of any illegal activities.
The station will be coordinating with the company where the victim was employed to check his background.
They will also be checking if the victim has been receiving death threats before the attack happened.
As part of their follow-up operation, Abellana station said they already have a possible motive behind the brazen attack that they will be verifying.
They will also be looking further into whether the victim’s death was work-related. /rcg
