CEBU CITY, Philippines — Three exciting matches highlight the official start of the Cebu Schools Athletic Foundation, Inc. (Cesafi) football tournament on Saturday, Oct. 14, at the University of San Carlos (USC) Talamban campus stadium.
The opening games will feature the much-awaited rematch against the reigning secondary division champions, the Don Bosco Technology Center (DBTC) Greywolves, against their rivals, the Sacred Heart School-Ateneo de Cebu (SHS-AdC) Magis Eagles at 9 a.m.
It can be recalled that these two high school football powerhouses clashed in the finals last year with the Greywolves emerging as champions after beating the Magis Eagles, 4-1, at the Cebu City Sports Center (CCSC) pitch.
The Cesafi football competition has been moved to a new venue, the USC Talamban campus stadium as the CCSC undergoes major renovation to prepare for next year’s Palarong Pambansa hosting.
Also seeing action tomorrow is the college division defending champions, the USC Warriors, against the University of Southern Philippines-Foundation (USP-F) Panthers at 1 p.m.
Completing the scheduled matches in tomorrow’s kick off of the Cesafi football tournament is the University of Cebu (UC) Webmasters and the University of the Philippines (UP) Cebu Fighting Maroons at 3 p.m.
On Sunday, Cesafi 2022 season’s first-runners-up in the college division, the University of San Jose-Recoletos (USJ-R) Jaguars will play versus UC Webmasters at 1 p.m.
USP-F will square off with UP Cebu at 3 p.m, and USC faces USJ-R in the high school division at 9 a.m.
