Inaugural Buildrite Basketball Cup kicks off Saturday

CEBU CITY, Philippines — It’s all systems go for the  inaugural Buildrite Cup basketball tournament that will unfold on Saturday, October 21, 2023 at the Cebu Port Authority (CPA) gymnasium. 

A total of 12 teams will be vying for supremacy in the league that will be joined by licensed architects and engineers. 

This will also be the biggest basketball tournament of the Architects and Engineers Basketball Club (AEBC).

“Pinaka daghan ni nga season nato kay 12 ka teams ang moduwa. Tungod ni sa duha ka napuno nga teams,” said AEBC vice president Josephril Partosa during a press conference on Friday, October 20. 

Also present during the presser were AEBC president Alan Choachuy, and the league presenter Buildrite represented by District Manager Noel Porter and National Sales Manager Gerald Lentorio. They were also joined by the 12 team representatives. 

The 12 basketball teams that will be competing in the Buildrite Cup will be divided into two brackets.

Bracket A will be comprised of Mechanical Engineers-B/Max Bond, Computer Engineers E/TOFil, Civil Engineers/Blocktite, United Architects of the Philippines (UAP)-Cebnu/Sinclair, Civil Engineers 2/Blockout, Industrial Engineers/Sapal.

Meanwhile, bracket B will be competed by the Civil Engineers-1/Stop Gap, UAP-DLL/Handyfix, Civil Engineers-4/Rubberstop, Mechanical Engineers-A/Smartbond, Electrical Engineers/Floorteck, and Civil Engineers-5/Confix.

Besides the basketball action, Choachuy also wanted to reiterate that this tournament aims to create collaboration and unity among architects and engineers who are often rivals in their respective industries. 

Choachuy added that the Buildrite Cup is purely fielding “professional players” since they only allow licensed architects and engineers to play basketball. 

“Mao ni tinud-anay nga professional league kay licensed gyud tanan players nato. Mga engineers and architects. Aside ana, ang allied professions nato, naay mga conflict, hopefully with this league pwede mi maka bonding. Importante kay maka collaborate mi in the future, ” said Choachuy. 

The opening ceremony of the inaugural Buildrite Cup is scheduled at 5:30 p.m tomorrow, at the CPA gym followed by the game proper.
