12 teams vie for supremacy in the 1st Buildrite Basketball Cup
CEBU CITY, Philippines — The inaugural Buildrite Cup basketball tournament will unfold on October 21, 2023 at the Cebu Port Authority (CPA) gymnasium.
A total of 12 teams comprised of engineers and architects based in Cebu will strut their wares in this hoop fest which is part of the long-running Architects + Engineers Basketball Club.
The organizers, headed by A+E Basketball Club Vice President for Operations Josephril Partosa said they are excited and optimistic of holding this basketball tournament.
“This is actually the first year that Buildrite is hosting this tournament. In the previous years, it was Davis Paints, while Island Paint was last year. So right now, it’s their turn and we are very optimistic because they are already talking about long-term partnership and innovation for this tournament,” Partosa told CDN Digital.
“The organizers from Buildrite are also ex-varsity players, so they surely have the passion of doing this tournament. Also, we welcomed the industrial engineers into our basketball club, so it’s going to be more exciting.”
Partosa was joined by Buildrite District Manager Noel Porter and Gerald Lentorio. who is Buildrite’s national sales manager, in organizing this tournament. Both Porter and Lentorio are ex-varsity players.
The 12 competing teams will be divided into two brackets.
Bracket A is comprised of Mechanical Engineers-B/Max Bond, Computer Engineers E/TOFil, Civil Engineers/Blocktite, United Architects of the Philippines (UAP)-Cebnu/Sinclair, Civil Engineers 2/Blockout, Industrial Engineers/Sapal.
Meanwhile, bracket B will be competed by the Civil Engineers-1/Stop Gap, UAP-DLL/Handyfix, Civil Engineers-4/Rubberstop, Mechanical Engineers-A/Smartbond, Electrical Engineers/Floorteck, and Civil Engineers-5/Confix.
The tournament’s format will be a single-round robin elimination for each bracket, followed by the quarterfinals, semifinals, and finals. / dcb
