China ships hit PH boats doing resupply run in West Philippine Sea

A Philippine Coast Guard vessel and a resupply boat of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) collided with Chinese vessels in the West Philippine Sea this Sunday morning, October 22, 2023.
The AFP-contracted boat was conducting a regular and routine Rotation and Resupply (RORE) mission to BRP Sierra Madre when “dangerous blocking maneuvers” conducted by a China Coast Guard (CCG) ship “caused it to collide” with the Philippine vessel, said National Task Force for the West Philippine Sea (NTF-WPS).
Ordinance for deployment of student interns in Cebu City proposed
A proposed ordinance to institutionalize the deployment of student interns in all offices in the Cebu City government is being pushed at the Cebu City Council
It will be up for first reading in the council’s next regular session on Wednesday, October 25.
Councilor Rey Gealon, the author of this proposed ordinance, said that the internship of students would not only enrich their education, knowledge and skills, but would also give them hands-on experience on how to provide a better future for themselves and their family.
P17.2M illegal drugs,185 loose firearms seized in two-day SACLEO in Central Visayas
Authorities confiscated a total of P17.2 million worth of illegal drugs during the two-day Simultaneous Anti-Criminality and Law Enforcement Operations (SACLEO) in Central Visayas.
Police Lieutenant Colonel Gerard Ace Pelare, spokesperson of the Police Regional Office in Central Visayas (PRO-7), said they also arrested a total of 149 drugs suspects, 208 illegal gamblers and 13 most wanted and 71 wanted persons.
CESAFI 2023: Bahay fires 32 points as Magis Eagles stretch winning streak to four
The country’s top high school player, Jared Bahay, dropped a season-high 32 points in the Sacred Heart School-Ateneo de Cebu (SHS-AdC) Magis Eagles’ total obliteration of the City of Bogo Science and Arts Academy (CBSAA) Trailblazers, 88-41, during their game in the Cebu Schools Athletic Foundation, Inc. (Cesafi) high school basketball on Sunday, October 22, 2023, at the Cebu Coliseum.
The victory put the Magis Eagles, the Cesafi high school defending champions, at the No. 2 spot in the team standings with a 4-1 (win-loss) record and stretched their winning streak to four games.
