The body of a dead man found early Wednesday morning in Lapu-Lapu City has now been identified.

LAPU-LAPU CITY, Cebu- The dead man who was found early Wednesday morning, has been identified by the victim’s father, the  Lapu-Lapu City Police Office (LCPO) said.

The lifeless body of the male person was found at Zone 3 Saac 1, Barangay Buaya in Lapu-Lapu City, at around 5:30 a.m. on Wednesday, December 13, 2012.

Police Lieutenant Colonel Christian Torres, spokesperson of LCPO, identified the victim as JR Niya a.k.a. Eyok, a resident of Zone 6 in the said barangay.

The father of the victim personally identified his son, Torres said.

The father allegedly told investigators that his son was involved in the illegal drug trade in 2019 and has a pending case.

Torres added that a concerned citizen discovered the dead man and immediately reported his discovery to authorities.

LCPO immediately dispatched a team from the Scene of the Crime Operatives (SOCO) to process the crime scene.
