As a result of a community extension project undertaken by the College of Arts and Sciences at Cebu Technological University – Tuburan Campus, the Bagasawe Bukag Organization (BBO) was established in Tuburan, Cebu. An action that promotes a sense of pride and cooperation, as CTU and the locals joined together to achieve a shared objective.
BBO is an organization that showcases creativity and craftsmanship through weaving locally-sourced bukag products. One of the founders of the organization, Rogela Flores, said that BUKAG and the BBO are more than just weaving and organization; they represent a powerful combination of cultural preservation and economic progress for the community.
“BUKAG stands as a noble endeavor to support the livelihoods of the men and women in Barangay Bagasawe through basket weaving training. By imparting this valuable skill, it would not only unlock economic opportunities but it also elevates the entire community’s economic standing”, she said.
