LAPU-LAPU CITY, Cebu — A 40-year-old man was found dead in Purok Paglaum, Barangay Ibabao in Cordova town, on Monday morning, June 3, 2024, at around 7:30 a.m.
The victim was identified as George Manatad Serafin, a resident of Lower Sun-ok, Brgy. Ibabao of the town.

Based on the investigation of Cordova Police Station, a concerned citizen called their office to report about a dead man found in the area.
Upon responding to the crime scene, the police found a gunshot wound on the victim’s head, particularly on his right face below his right eye.
The police immediately cordoned off and secured the area and requested the Scene of the Crime Operatives (SOCO) to process the crime scene.
During their investigation, the police recovered an empty shell and a piece of green lighter.
The relatives of the deceased also arrived and positively identified the victim.

Initial investigation revealed that the victim just arrived from his hometown in Mindanao on Sunday, May 2, 2024. However, his family earlier advised him to stay in Mindanao and not come back to Cebu.
The members of the victim’s family claimed that they advised the victim to stay in Mindanao because they allegedly learned about his alleged involvement in the illegal drug trade.
The victim was last seen by his son at around 3:00 a.m. today.
Further investigation was conducted by the Cordova Police Station, where they already have a person of interest in the crime.
The authorities also took the victim’s cellular phone for further investigation.
