LAPU-LAPU CITY, Cebu- A 20-year-old man died after his motorcycle collided with a dump truck along the national highway in Brgy. Poblacion in Liloan town at around 7 a.m. on Wednesday, June 19.
The motorcycle rider was identified as Fel Rydge Pepito, a resident of Purok Kaimito also in Brgy. Poblacion.
Police Major Eric Gingoyon, the chief of Liloan Police Station, said that the motorcycle was heading north while the dump truck that was driven by Ariel Caramihan Claro, 27, was traveling on the opposite direction. Claro is from Brgy. Vito in Minglanilla town.

Quoting the outcome of their investigation, Gingoyon said that Pepito encroached the southbound lane of the national highway as he tried to counterflow, which caused his motorcycle to collide with the approaching dump truck.

Pepito was killed due to the impact of the collision as he was not also wearing a helmet.
“Murag nakainom pod, unya kusog nakapadagan,” Gingoyon said.

Gingoyon said that Pepito was already dead when he was brought to the Danao District Hospital.
On the other hand, Claro remains detained at the detention facility of the Liloan Police Station while the police prepare a complaint for reckless imprudence resulting in homicide and damage to property that will soon be filed against him.
