First Ouano-Dizon Congressional Cup fires off on Sunday

CEBU CITY, Philippines — The inaugural “Ouano-Dizon Congressional Cup (ODCC) Inter-barangay Congressional Cup” is expected to field a massive 1,800 players from 115 teams comprised of Mandaue City barangays vying for volleyball and basketball supremacy.

The opening ceremony of this sports event is on Sunday, June 23, at the Barangay Opao gymnasium.

The Ouano-Dizon Congressional Cup (ODCC) is organized by Mandaue City Lone District Representative Congresswoman Emmarie “Lolypop” Ouano-Dizon and her husband, Barangay Opao Captain Nixon “Jojo” Dizon.

The ODCC Inter-barangay Congressional Cup will have men’s and women’s categories for its volleyball tournament, while the basketball tournament will have three categories: juniors, seniors, and 40-above.

This sports event aims to provide an avenue for passionate sports buffs in Mandaue City to showcase their skills in volleyball and basketball, while fostering sportsmanship at the same time.

No less than Cong. Ouano-Dizon, Brgy. Captain Dizon, ODCC Chairman Provincial Board Member Thadeo “Jonkie” Ouano, City Councilors Nerissa “Inday Nerry” Soon-Ruiz, Atty. Joel Seno, Cesar “Ting Sol” Cabahug, Andreo “Anjong” Ouano-Icalina, and the Barangay and SK Officials of the participating barangays will grace the opening ceremony on Sunday.

The special guest is no less than famed Cebuana volleyball player Cherry Ann “Sisi” Rondina, who recently bagged the historic bronze medal with the Alas Pilipinas women’s volleyball team in the 2024 AVC Challenge Cup in Manila.

The participating barangays of the ODCC Inter-barangay Congressional Cup are Alang-Alang, Banilad, Basak, Cabancalan, Cambaro, Canduman, Casili, Casuntingan, Centro, Cubacub, Guizo, Ibabao-Estancia, Jagobiao, Labogon, Looc, Maguikay, Mantuyong, Opao, Pagsabungan, Paknaan, Subangdaku, Tabok, Tingub, Tipolo, and Umapad.
