Toughened by months of rigid training and armed with a hunger that can only be satiated by a legitimate world boxing belt on his waist, the unbeaten “King” Arthur Villanueva stakes his claim to boxing glory this Saturday (Sunday, Manila time) against unbeaten Puerto Rican southpaw and former Olympian McJoe Arroyo in El Paso, Texas.

The two hungry warriors will duke it out for the vacant IBF World super flyweight crown.

Villanueva (27-0, 14KOs), the current IBF International super flyweight, WBO International super flyweight and OPBF super flyweight champion put in a nutshell his extreme desire to win the crown by saying “there’s no next time” in a report posted in Philboxing.com.

And the 26-year-old Ilongo got added motivation to do good in the biggest fight of his career with the recent arrival of ALA Boxing Gym’s chief trainer Edmund Villamor and ALA Promotions International CEO Michael P. Aldeguer.

Villanueva and trainer Edito Villamor arrived in Texas last week.

“He’s doing great, he’s ready for the fight. If he follows the game-plan and capitalizes on McJoe’s mistakes, he will do fine,” said Villamor.

McJoe Arroyo (16-0, 8KOs) will not be an easy opponent for Villanueva according to Villamor who described the Puerto Rican as a heavy puncher. Villamor sees the fight in an even keel. “It’s a 50-50 situation,” he said.

In a recent interview with Villanueva before he flew to the U.S., he said that his focus is more on winning the bout by points and not by knockout.

That’s the reason why he prepared well and underwent rigid training as he expects the fight to go the distance.

“We plan to dictate the fight, if a knock out happens then good. I’ll do my best to execute our plans well inside the ring,” Villanueva said.
