MotorAce introduces multi-sport team

WELL-KNOWN motorcycle shop MotorAce formally launched its multi-sport racing team yesterday at the Tao Yuan Seafood Restaurant in J Centre Mall, Mandaue City.

MotorAce president Jonel Borromeo spearheaded the launching of the All-Cebuano team.

Leading the team’s roster is the country’s Marathon Queen and Southeast Asian Games marathon silver medalist Mary Joy Tabal, who got the needed help from Borromeo in her recent stint at the prestigious Great Eastern Women’s Run 2015 in Singapore.

Also in the team are multi-titled Filipino elite triathlete John Philip Dueñas, underbone racers Dondon Requilme and Marc Capoy and rising triathletes Tenggoy and Merly Colmenares.

Dueñas, however, will officially be in the team in December since he is still under contract with another team until that month.

Borromeo said MotorAce’s main objective of forming the team is to help each member further excel in their respective sports.

“We have an existing circuit team composed of Capoy and Requilme but we have to expand our help to those who are really good at their respective sport,” Borromeo said. “That’s why when Joy (Tabal) approached me, I never hesitated to help her and I am proud to say that MotorAce was part of that victory.”

Tabal finished fourth in the Singapore race but she couldn’t have done it without the help of MotorAce. Tabal wasn’t named into the Philippine team that competed in the race but she was still able to join with the help of Borromeo. And she finished way ahead of her fellow Filipino runners.

Borromeo told Tabal yesterday that MotorAce will support her all the way to the 2016 Rio Olympics.
“We are willing to help her all the way to the 2016 Rio Olympics, that’s our target,” Borromeo added.
