Legends rout Mighty Geeks

THE REIGNING champions 1985 Legends flaunted their might once again as they destroyed the 1986 Mighty Geeks, 71-52, in Division 1 of the University of San Carlos North Alumni Basketball Conference Sinulog Homecoming Cup last weekend at the USC North Campus gym.

The Legends followed the lead of former pro Lou Regidor and Bing Pua who scored 22 and 21 points, respectively, to help them rack up their fourth win in a row while sending the Mighty Geeks to their second loss in five games.

In other games, the 1990 Titans tied the Geeks at fourth place after they edged out the 1988 Barakos, 71-69. Engel Sievert and Hector Lawas formed an awesome-twosome for the Titans as they each tallied 23 to push their team to the close victory. The Barakos suffered their first loss after two straight wins despite getting 34 markers from skipper Edmund Odulio.

Meanwhile, the 1992 Little Rascals and the 1993 Dragons kept their records clean with a pair of victories. The Little Rascals bested the 1989 Spartans, 65-60, behind the 19 points of Jinggoy Olvido and the 13 each of Lennart Perales and Clint del Rosario.

The Dragons, on the other hand, clobbered the Bai 91, 85-67, as Roy Jumao-as led a balanced scoring attack with 19. Jade Ylanan added 18, Darius Nuñez chipped in 15 and Eduardo Banaag contributed 14 in a solid show of strength by the Dragons. Both the Little Rascals and the Dragons hold similar 3-0 win-loss records.
