SOCIAL media and TV celebrity Maine Mendoza, half of the phenomenal loveteam AlDub (the other half is actor Alden Richards), has recovered her Instagram account, after it was hacked past midnight of Feb. 24.
In her first IG post past midnight of March 1, Mendoza thanked Carlo Ople, managing director of Dentsu Digit and founder of Unbox (unbox.ph), for helping her recover her account along with all her posts and photos.
Ople had tweeted past 4 p.m. on Feb. 29: “Finally, Account secured and restored.
Advanced Happy Birthday @mainedcm!” In response to Mendoza’s fans, his next tweet was: “Thank you to our friends from @Instagram and Unilever PH who helped with the recovery and restoration.”
Mendoza, for her part, announced the happy news on her Instagram account.
“My Instagram account is back! Big thanks to Sir @CarloOple for helping me retrieve my account and my photos! You don’t know how happy I am right now!
Saktong sakto sa birthday ko!” said Mendoza, who will celebrate her 21st birthday on March 3.
Mendoza, who shot to fame because of her Dubsmash videos and wacky personality as Yaya Dub in popular noontime show Eat Bulaga’s Kalyeserye segment, also showed her feisty side when she addressed the hackers.
“To those who are STILL trying to get into my social media accounts, naku naku naku may kalalagyan din kayo. It’s actually crazy how much effort people put into trying to ruin someone else’s life..but no, never will I give someone who is trying to bring me down the satisfaction of succeeding.”
She went on to give a “tip” to the hackers.
“Tip: Do yourselves a favor and do something worthwhile with your time. Don’t go around messing with other people’s lives just cause *clears throat* your life sucks,” she added.
It was actor Alden Richards who informed Mendoza’s fans about the hacking incident via a post on his Twitter account last Feb. 24: “@mainedcm instagram account got hacked.”
He also posted a screenshot of the Snapschat account of the hacker (mysnapchat.doi) who took over Mendoza’s account and deleted all her photos. The hacker then urged Richards to send him a direct message and even posted an apology on Mendoza’s account.
Mendoza, who was recently named Best Social Media Influencer and Online’s Choice at the Nuffnang Awards 2016, has 2.2 million Instagram followers and more than 3 million followers on Twitter.
