A FORMER drug enforcement chief who has been detained since May 9 for allegedly brandishing a gun inside the Mandaue City Central School on election day was ordered released yesterday.
The Mandaue City Prosecutor’s Office dismissed the complaint for violation of the election gun ban against Carlito Ermac, 57, former chief of the K9 division of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency in Central Visayas (PDEA-7).
Associate City Prosecutor Aurora Ventura-Villamor said in her resolution that Ermac’s gun was properly documented and he has an exemption from the gun ban.
Supt. Jonathan Abella, Mandaue City police chief, said they will file a motion for reconsideration (MR).
“Our MR is based on what is the rule of Comelec. Allowed ba siya to bring gun inside the polling center? Nisulod siya sa eskwelahan (with a gun on his car). Amo ikuan ani nga bawal siya magdala og pusil sa center,” he said.
Ermac, a resident of Barangay Alang-Alang, Mandaue City, was arrested after a 9 mm caliber pistol with 18 bullets was found inside his car when it was stopped as he and his wife were about to leave the polling center last May 9.
