10 reasons why we fell in love with the 10th generation Civic
By now, most Cebuano motoring enthusiasts would have known that the 10th generation Honda Civic has already arrived in Cebu and is available for viewing and purchasing at Honda Cars Cebu Inc. dealerships in Mandaue City and Cebu City.
Cebu Daily News got a chance to take the top spec RS variant for a spin last weekend. As expected, the Civic did impress us—and the people we passed during our test—with its more aggressive stance and impressive 1.5-liter VTEC turbo engine.
At the end of our one-day experience with the Civic RS, we figured that this version of the popular Honda nameplate could match, if not surpass, the success of the ever-popular sixth generation.
Here are 10 reasons to back up our claim:
1. VTEC TURBO ENGINE
Honda’s first locally available 1.5-liter VTEC turbo engine is the icing on the cake. It delivers a maximum torque of 22.0 kg-m at 1,700—5,500 rpm, and a maximum power output of 173 PS at 5,500 rpm. That’s a lot of power for a stock compact sedan. Believe us when we say this engine can shame wannabe racers out there.
2. REMOTE ENGINE START
The Smart Key features numerous functions. It includes the Remote Engine Start Function that conveniently starts the vehicle engine and turns on its Auto Climate Control System from the outside, which allows the cabin to cool even before one enters the vehicle. Really helpful considering our hot weather.
3. RS DESIGN 17-INCH ALLOY WHEELS
Some say bigger wheels would have been better. But this set does not disappoint. The dark hue goes well with the Gloss Black Front Grille and Wing Type Trunk Spoiler.
4. 7-INCH ADVANCED DISPLAY AUDIO
This provides advanced touch controls, entertainment features and Smartphone connectivity. Climate control is also a feature here, which may be adjusted through the climate control button.
5. ELECTROSTATIC STEERING WHEEL CONTROLS
Toggling the switches are really easy and can be done with just a soft swipe. So there’s no reason to be distracted while adjusting the volume of your music.
6. NEW ACE BODY DESIGN
The low and wide platform of the All-New Civic not only enhances its premium sporty styling, but also helps realize better torsion rigidity and above class crash safety.
7. FULL-COLOR TFT INSTRUMENT CLUSTER
It looks good and shows the dials clearly. But it’s during startup that it really impresses, thanks to its breathtaking animation. The cluster includes a Multi-Information Display that allows for quick browsing of vehicle speed and vehicle-related information.
8. TWIN PIPE EXHAUST
A car with twin exhaust usually means business. That’s true with this beast, too. Looks good, sounds meaner.
9. C-SHAPED LED TAILLIGHTS
The athletic design of the all-new Civic is also distinguished by its distinctive C-Shaped LED tail lamps that truly highlight its unique brand identity. C for Civic. Perfect.
10. FULL-LED HEADLIGHTS
Its aggressive front fascia is highlighted by Honda’s signature LED lighting, which includes full LED Headlights, and LED Daytime Running Lights. Makes the Civic a stand out on the road.
