COVID-19 hits PDEA chief Villanueva
MANILA, Philippines — Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) Director-General Wilkins Villanueva on Sunday disclosed that he is positive for COVID-19.

“As I was preparing for the Senate Inquiry on Monday, I took my RT-PCR at the Chinese General Hospital yesterday as part of the requirement. This morning I received the result. I TESTED POSITIVE,” Villanueva said in a social media post.
“I’m sorry to all the people that I had close contact for the past days. Please take necessary precaution,” he added.
“I will be back, isolated lang po ako. Please pray for those who were also tested positive. Sana malampasan naming lahat ito. GOD BLESS US ALL!”

Villanueva was invited as a resource person in the Senate’s investigation on Monday on the deadly encounter between operatives of the PDEA and Quezon City police.
As of Saturday, March 13, the Philippines has logged 616,611 COVID-19 cases, with 547,166 recoveries and 12,766 deaths.
