Five men killed vigilante style

Five men were killed vigilante style by unidentified persons – three in Cebu City, one in Lapu-Lapu City and one in Mandaue City.

In Cebu City, four men who were inside an alleged drug den at dawn yesterday in Barangay T. Padilla were shot by two unidentified gunmen. Three of them died while the fourth, identified as Christ Ursal is in the hospital, fighting for his life.

The fatalities were identified as Edwin Montreal, 43, Brian Puso, 31, and Archival Roca, 35. They were all residents of Barangay T. Padilla.

PO1 Leopoldo Fullido of the Parian Police Station said neighbors heard a burst of gunfire and later saw the victims lying inside the shanty which was reportedly a drug den.

Montreal and Puso died on the spot while Roca and Ursal were brought to the Cebu City Medical Center (CCMC) where Roca was declared dead on arrival.

Suspects are still at large as of press time.

In Mandaue City, a man was shot dead by an unidentified gunman who fled on board a motorcycle at dawn yesterday.

The victim, Claudio Barientos, 34, a resident of Purok Tambis, Barangay Umapad sustained several gunshot wounds in his body. Residents in the area said Barientos was also into illegal drugs but was not in the police watch list.

In Lapu-Lapu City, a 44-year-old was shot as he entered his residence in Barangay Basak at around 8:45 p.m. Friday.

Noel Ravales had just alighted from his motorcycle and was walking towards his house when a man came from behind and shot him in the head.
His assailant immediately fled on board a waiting motorcycle.

Arrested

Meanwhile four suspected drug pushers were arrested in separate police operations in Toledo City and Liloan town.

In Barangay Yati, Liloan, three suspected drug personalities who refused to surrender to the police in line with Oplan Tokhang were arrested in a buy-bust operation at midnight on Saturday by policemen led by Chief Inspector Franco Rudolf Oriol.

The arrested suspects were identified as Rey Ronald Tolo, Luvil Apas and John Dave Pepito.

Police recovered several sachets containing crystals suspected to be shabu and marked money from the suspects.

Another man was arrested in Barangay Ibo, Toledo City, again in a buy-bust operation.

The suspect, Wilson Nillas was placed in the police watch list after he refused to surrender to the police.

He is allegedly a drug pusher.

Supt. Samuel Mina Jr. led the buy-bust operation and recovered 4 medium packs and a small sachet of presumed shabu and marked P200 bill.
