Yolanda victims in Bantayan town gets Capitol aid
Provincial Board Members approved on Monday, a resolution authorizing Cebu Governor Hilario Davide III to allocate P5.8 million to aid Super Typhoon Yolanda victims in the municipality of Bantayan in Bantayan Island to rebuild their damaged homes.
The resolution by PB Member Horacio Franco of the fourth district of Cebu says that the allocation will be spent for the construction of 32.5 units of duplex houses for Yolanda victims in Sitio Silangon in Barangay Sulangan.
Horacio said the more than 60 families from Barangay Sulangan were the first to approach him and sought his help on their housing needs.
“The construction of 32.5 units of duplex houses of the said municipality aims to build safe and decent houses for the displaced families due to the havoc caused by Super Typhoon Yolanda,” said Franco’s approved resolution.
Funds for the construction project will be taken from the social development allocation of the national government which was released to the provincial government through a joint memorandum entered into by the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) and Department of Budget and Management (DBM).
A separate resolution by Franco seeks the realignment of P3.2 million of the P7 million worth of development project assistance that Bogo City received from the national government for the implementation of Yolanda-related projects in the city.
Franco’s resolution said that the realignment of the cash aid is “very necessary and meritorious” because it will allow the city government to spend the allocation on the development of relocation sites for the super typhoon victims.
