THE CHANCE to make it into the national youth basketball team pool will be at stake today as the Elite 60 Development Camp kicks off at the Sacred Heart School-Ateneo de Cebu campus in Canduman, Mandaue City.

Registration for the tryouts begin at 8 a.m. as the talent identification camp commences at 9 a.m. under the watchful eye of selection committee head, Ato Badolato and NBTC founder Eric Altamirano.

They will be backed by a coaches, both from here in the city and across the region as the camp aims to select 10 campers for the Elite 60 Developmental Camp on May 18 to 21 in Manila.

The top 60 prospects from the various regional selection camps are in for an exhaustive basketball-training program, which will see them go through rigorous drills, coaches’ lectures and intense five-on-five games.

The Elite 60 serves as a process to identify future players for the National Youth (Under-18 and Cadet) teams.

This is consistent with SBP and MVP Sports Foundation’s mission of “helping both grassroots development and elite programs of eight national sports associations.”
