Tuburan firmed up its hold of the top spot in the North Division Bracket 2 after pulling off a 108-104 overtime win over Danao City Wednesday night in the 2017 Cebu Governor’s Cup 21-Under Inter-Cities/Municipalities Basketball Tournament at the Tuburan Municipal Gym.

Mike Parilla and Joycelee Oropino scored six and five points respectively in the extension period, powering Tuburan to its third win in as many games.

Tuburan was poised to win in regulation but Danao fought back behind Ricardo Moral Jr., who scored 10 points in a crucial 33-25 run that helped them tie the contest at 94-all after four quarters.

Oropino ignited the overtime with five straight points and Tuburan took control from that point on to hand Danao its second defeat against the same number of victories.

Oropino went on to finish with a game-high 32 points, Miguelito Jusay and Parilla added 20 apiece while Alson Sevilla chipped in 16.

Moral paced Danao with 21 points, Niño Marquez pitched in 19, while Edz Daniel Vallena and Ralph Laurence Nadela donated 14 each.

In other games under the same bracket, Borbon (1-2) finally broke into the win column by beating Carmen (2-2), 89-76, while Sogod bagged its second victory in four outings via an 85-79 triumph over winless Asturias (0-3).

Tonight at the Borbon Municipal Gym, Tuburan guns for a spot in the quarterfinal round when it plays Asturias at 6:30 p.m. while Balamban (2-1) tries to cement its hold of second spot when it battles Carmen (2-2) at 5 p.m.

Host team Borbon guns for a second straight win when it takes on Sogod in the main outing.

In the South Division, Barili improved to 3-1 (win-loss) by tripping Dumanjug, 87-78, while Alegria snapped a three-game losing streak via an 89-71 thumping of host team Alcantara (0-4).
