MANILA — Three flights to and from Taipei, Taiwan, were canceled at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (Naia) on Sunday as Typhoon Gorio battered the island after exiting the Philippine area of responsibility.

In an advisory, the Manila International Airport Authority (MIAA) said the canceled morning flights from Taipei were China Airlines flight 701, Cebu Pacific flight 5J-311 and AirAsia Zest flight Z2-129. China Airlines flight 702 to Taipei was also canceled.

The MIAA advised relatives of passengers and other welcomers to coordinate with the airlines for the rescheduled flights.
Meanwhile, tropical storm Huaning that followed Gorio has also left the country, said Pagasa’s 5 p.m. advisory.

The weather bureau said that Huaning has “slightly intensified” with winds of 80 kph near the center and gustiness of 110 kph, as it heads for southern Taiwan.
