BARANGAY tanods in seven barangays in Cebu City, six of them under the San Nicolas Police Station’s jurisdiction, are being taught how to handle minors as preparation for the strict implementation of the city’s curfew ordinance for minors in these barangays.

Chief. Insp. Keith Andaya said that last Saturday they conducted initial trainings on tanods how to handle minors in an operation.

Andaya said that they would start implementing the curfew by the weekend.

Senior Supt. Joel Doria, Cebu City Police Office (CCPO) director, said that the tanods would be taught how to separate minors from adults as the children would not be placed in the adult detention cell.

They will also be taught how to document minors and then inform parents that their children were rescued in a police operation.

“Meron tayong Women and Children’s Desk na mag take care sa kanila. And eventually ituturn-over sila sa DSWD,” Doria said.

Barangays Calamba, San Nicolas Proper, Pahina San Nicolas, Sawang Calero, Pasil, and Suba are the six barangays under San Nicolas Police Station.

However, Doria said that they included Barangay Duljo-Fatima because minors from the six other barangays would sometimes go to Duljo.
