A 36-year old woman was injured after she was held hostage by her boyfriend inside an apartment in Barangay Nangka, Consolacion, Cebu on Monday evening.

Maricel Ilustrisimo sustained injuries on her left hand when she fought against Gerald Malagar, who pointed a knife at her after a heated argument.

PO1 Michael James Gorres of Consolacion police said that Malagar went into the victim’s office around 7 PM on Monday.

The victim reportedly broke up with Malagar, who then got upset and pulled a knife to threaten the victim.

Ilustrisimo tried to grab the knife from Malagar to save her life. The victim’s hand was slashed, instead.

PO1 Gorres said it was the victim’s neighbors who called the police station and asked for assistance.

Malagar was arrested by responding cops and is now under the custody of Consolacion police while waiting for the victim to file a complaint against him.
