Lady traffic enforcer ‘mauled’ by ex cop
A female traffic enforcer on Friday accused a retired policeman who is also a former barangay captain of mauling her after she confronted the latter for illegal parking.
The complainant was identified as Era Navarro, 39, a resident of Barangay Babag, Lapu-Lapu City, and a member of the City Traffic Management System (CTMS) of Lapu-Lapu City.
Police investigators led by SPO3 Roberto Pepito, of Pusok Police Station said that at around 3:30 p.m. on Friday while Navarro was rendering official duty as a traffic enforcer, she noticed a car parked on a no stopping zone.
The victim reportedly approached the car, knocked on the window and instructed the driver to move the car since it was in a stopping zone.
Navarro said that the man on the passenger seat alighted and shouted at her saying, “You don’t know me, I’m a retired policeman,” then slapped her on the back and face.
Not contented, the suspect allegedly kicked her several times despite her pleas to stop as she was just doing her job.
The suspect then returned to his car and sped off.
Bystanders in the area who witnessed the whole incident identified the man as Fernando Cahilog, 63, a resident of Sitio Tacan, Barangay Ibo, who is a retired policeman and a former barangay captain of Ibo.
Navarro was told by her immediate superior Mario Napule to file a report to the police. The victim was also advised to get a medical certificate for the filing of appropriate charges against the suspect.
