Siaton road accident hurts tricycle driver

A police officer was detained for a few hours at the Siaton town in Negros Oriental detention cell after he figured in an accident on Thursday which injured a 60-year-old tricycle driver.

Senior Police Officer 2 (SPO2) Richard Encontad, 39, a non commissioned officer assigned to the Provincial Mobile Force Company in Barangay Napacao of Siaton town, was detained in the morning and was released in the afternoon after he settled with the relatives of the injured driver, Lamberto Guillarawan, said SPO3 Peter Palanon, Siaton Police Station desk officer in a phone interview.

Palanon said that Encontad, who was driving a Honda Civic accidentally bumped the tricycle driven by Guillarawan, who suffered cuts and bruises and rushed to the hospital for treatment.

Encontad was detained after the accident and was released after he agreed to shoulder the hospital expenses of the victim.
