Whether or not the Department of Transportation (DOTr) will proceed with the P17-billion Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) project, Cebu City Mayor Tomas Osmeña’s pronouncement that the city is willing to assume the responsibility of implementing the BRT project drew mixed reactions from netizens.
One netizen named Davey Simbajon said, “Unsa kay naa ana no? Nganong ipugos gyud. Dako2 rabag budget no.” (What is it about BRT? Why are they forcing its implementation when its budget is huge?)
While Ark Anghel agreed that the project should be left to the city government to ensure its faster implementation.
“The Mayor is more accountable to his constituents than anyone else, for they think BRT is only for Cebu City, and faster implementation will be done if ang city will push mismo.”
