AFTER the success of “Patay na Si Hesus,” Cebuano filmmaker Victor Villanueva has a new movie project titled, “Kusina Kings” which is slated to be shown this year.
“Wala pa mi playdate so far, pero baka soon,” Villanueva told Cebu Daily News in an interview.
The movie is headlined by Kapamilya stars Empoy Marquez, Zanjoe Marudo, Nathalie Hart, and Miss Universe 2016 Maxine Medina Cebuano Chef Myke “Tatung” Sarthou was also tapped as one of the consultants in the movie.
“When this project came in, naalala ko (si) Sir Myke because I needed a consultant. And siya akong na remember and better nga Bisaya mi kay I can easily communicate with him unsa akong gusto,” the young filmmaker said.
Villanueva described Sarthou as very collaborative.
“Daghan siya input on what the final dishes would be, and nitabang pud siya’g style sa food. Very fun ka work with,” he told CDN.
This is also not the first time that he worked with Sarthou.
He met the award-winning Cebuano chef sometime in 2011-2012 for a corporate video.
The script is written by Jepa Gallon and Joma Labayen but Villanueva helped in writing additional scenes and dialogues.
The movie project was announced last year and Villanueva confirmed that they are done with the taping.
Marudo, one of the lead stars, has been updating his fans about this project.
He shared a photo of him and Marquez on his Instagram account wearing a chef uniform.
“Soon in cinemas,” he sad.
Kapamilya actress Kisses Delavin expressed her excitement and commented on Marudo’s post.
“Yiiieee! This is it! Excited kami manood kuya,” she said.
Marudo also uploaded on his Instagram story taken inside a recording studio.
“Kusina Kings recording,” he said.
