THE LYCANS are just a win away from capturing the championship in the Duterte Basketball League after they bested Queensland, 61-46, in Game 1 of their best-of-three finals series last Sunday at the Capitol Parish Gym.
The Lycans were only up by seven, 29-22, at halftime when they flipped the offensive switch to bury Queensland in the third canto, outscoring them 23-8 to open up a huge 52-30 lead heading to the last period. It was a lead that held even though the Lycans managed to score a mere nine markers in the fourth.
Ervin Conahap paced the Lycans of team owner Dondon Aropo with 15 points while Dunn Labata and Jarey Ceniza had 13 and 11 markers, respectively.
Kelvin Cinco paced Queensland with 15.
The Lycans can wrap the series up in Game 2 this Sunday evening at the same venue.
