A DAY after director Erik Matti’s resignation from the project, ABS-CBN announced filmmaker Jerrold Tarog as the new director for the upcoming superhero movie, “Darna.”
In a press statement shared on its social media accounts, ABS-CBN said that Tarog “has warmly accepted the projected and will soon commence working on the film.”
ABS-CBN and Star Cinema continued the official statement by expressing gratitude to Artikulo Uno Productions for allowing Tarog to do the project.
“We welcome Jerrold’s fresh take, innovative ideas, and signature directorial style to make Darna’s return to the big screen a rare cinematic experience for moviegoers,” the statement reads.
The change of director followed after ABS-CBN and Star Cinema announced Matti’s resignation from the project last Thursday, citing “creative differences” and to allow him to work on other projects of his production company, Reality Entertainment.
Tarog is known for the historical films “Heneral Luna” (2015) and “Goyo: Ang Batang Heneral” (2018).
