Ten  persons, including two children, were injured after a gas stove exploded while they were eating in a carenderia on Easter Sunday  morning in barangay Poblacion, Lapu-Lapu City.

The cook, a certain Johnny, sustained the most severe injuries.

The nine other injured persons were customers of the eatery owned by Loloy Soronio, police said.

FO3 Climaco Salisid of the city’s fire department said Johnny was cooking porridge when the gas stove exploded.

The porridge in the caldron splattered  the dining customers with the explosion.

Injured were Jerson Acosta, 27, and his two children aged three and five; Francis Joy Vito, 27; Romeo Abracion,57; Pablito Vidal Jr., 23; Jojo Casia, 22; couple Joselito, 42, and Liezel Perez, 29; and Joy Fortes, 18.

Paramedics from the Emergency Rescue Unit Foundation brought the victims to the Lapu-Lapu City Hospital.

Pablito Vidal Jr. and Jojo Casia, workers of the eatery, said they smelled  kerosene in the air before the  explosion.

A few months ago, four persons were injured when a gas stove accidentally exploded in an eatery in the same barangay.
