Cebu City, Philippines — Do the stars of  “Dragon Lady” believe in luck?

During a press conference with Cebu Entertainment Group last weekend, Kapuso stars Joyce Ching, Edgar Allan Guzman, and Tom Rodriguez shared their opinions.

“Personally po hindi po ako naniniwala sa swerte, sa malas. Hindi po,” Ching said.

(Personally, I do not believe with luck, bad luck. I do not.)

But the 24-year-old actress believes that good things happen to people who are good and kind.

“Babalik at babalik yun. Yan ang close na pamahiin na pinaniniwalaan ko,” she said.

(It will go back to you. That is the closest belief that I believe.)

In the series, Ching plays the character of Astrid Chua, who is the rival of Celestina (Janine Guiterrez) both in business and love.

For Guzman, he believes in luck and belief.

“Kasi bata pa lang ako kumbaga yung mommy ko nire-remind ako lagi kung ano yung mga pamihiin. Hanggang ngayon,  ina-apply ko yun. Kumbaga may mga instances, na e-experience ko ganito o sa kaibigan ko, sasagot ako oh tama yan maniwala ka kasi pamahiin yan. Totoo yan. So naniniwala ako,” he said.

(Since I was a child, my mother would remind me about beliefs. Until now, I still apply those beliefs. Like there are instances that I experience or sime friends, I will tell them yes it is right because that is superstition or belief. It is true. I really believe on that.)

In the “Dragon Lady” series, Guzman plays Goldwyn Chen, a business tycoon who comes from a rich Chinese family.

Just like Guzman, Rodriguez also believes the same way.

The Kapuso actor looked back to his life when fame was not yet on his side.

“There were times I was hungry. Wala akong pambayad ng renta, wala akong pambili ng pangkain, may requirements for the costume sa taping. Tapos may cheke na darating, bigla may sweldo,” he said.

(There were times I was hungry. I had no money for my rent, food, and costume for taping. Unexpectedly, a cheque or salary would arrive.)

Rodriguez also believes that it was also because of luck why he met his girlfriend Carla Abellana.

Rodriguez and Abellana first work together in GMA series, “My Husband’s Lover” in 2013.

“So, kung hindi ako tumuloy (audition) because I had doubts. If I did not do that,  I would never meet the love of my life. In a way, I feel lucky,” he added.

Currently, Rodriguez is one of the lead stars in the fantasy drama, “Dragon Lady.”

He plays Michael Chan, a Filipino-Chinese who will fall in love with Celestina. /bmjo
