Police arrest second suspect in Christine Silawan murder

CEBU CITY, Philippines – Lapu-Lapu City police arrested a second suspect in the brutal killing of tithe collector Christine Lee Silawan.

Police Colonel Limuel Obon, chief of the Lapu-Lapu City Police Office (LLCPO), confirmed in a text message to Cebu Daily News Digital the arrest of the suspect on Tuesday April 9, 2019.

But Obon would no longer give details on their operation.

The still unidentified suspect, who is now under police custody, is already the second person to be arrested by law enforcement agencies since the discovery of Silawan’s half-naked body in a vacant lot in Barangay Bankal early morning of March 11, 2019.

Investigators from the Philippine National Police (PNP) and the National Bureau of Investigation in Central Visayas (NBI – 7) are looking for at least three men who are believed to be behind Silawan’s killing.

NBI agents first arrested Silawan’s ex-boyfriend on March 16 in his house in Barangay Maribago.
