#ReliefTracker: What other places need to be reached?

By: Marian Z. Codilla November 22,2013 - 08:43 AM

(Third Update)

Cebu’s three community newspapers have collaborated to mount an online database to identify where relief aid from government and the private sector is going in 13 towns and one city in north Cebu hardest hit by supertyphoon Yolanda.

In this list of barangays, we still have no detailed information whether they have received relief aid.
If you have sent relief goods to these areas, let us know so we can update the list, which can guide future donors looking for unserved areas.

So far, most of the aid has come in the form of canned goods, rice and other food items.

This project was started in coordination with the Ramon Aboitiz Foundation Inc. We invite individuals, families, agencies, government offices and private organizations that have launched relief efforts to help update the information.

Notes:

* Daanbantayan Mayor Augusto Corro and Vice Mayor Gilbert Arrabis Jr. said all barangays in their town have been reached and that some residents have received relief aid more than once. Several foreign donors have visited parts of Daanbantayan. Details of distribution to follow.

** Medellin Mayor Ricky Ramirez said all 19 barangays of his town received at least four rounds of relief goods from various donors. Medellin is now focused on rebuilding and rehabilitation.

*** Bantayan town consultant and relief operations head Vince Escario said all barangays have been reached by relief aid. Several international organizations pledged to adopt barangays and provide food, shelter and alternative livelihood. Details of distribution awaited.

All barangays in Madridejos town in Bantayan Island have received relief goods said Mayor Salvador Dela Fuente. He said the local government ensured that incoming goods were equally distributed in all barangays.

In San Francisco town, all barangays were covered, said Eduardo Maningo, public information officer. As of Nov. 19, 10,817 families were given food packs from local and international donors.

All barangays in Poro have been reached by relief aid from the Cebu provincial government, Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) and other NGOs, according to Public Information Officer Abel Garciano. However, 15 of the 16 barangays still don’t have electricity.
