TEN policemen from different police stations in Cebu were asked to explain why they failed to show up in yesterday’s seminar where a surprise drug test was conducted.
The policemen could face an administrative investigation if they fail to give a reasonable excuse that prevented them from taking part in the drug test, said Supt. Rodolfo Albotra Jr., chief of CPPO’s Intelligence Branch.
Albotra said 50 policemen from various intelligence units were earlier asked to join “Eye in the Barangay” seminar yesterday at the CPPO headquarters in barangay Lahug, Cebu City.
But before the seminar started, the policemen were asked to undergo a drug test.
The seminar tackled the forming of civilian informants in every barangay.
The surprise drug test was done due to reports that some policemen are involved in illegal drug activities, said Senior Supt. Noel Gillamac, chief of the CCPO.
“Yes we received several reports through text messages,” Gillamac said.
Albotra said intelligence units conduct most of the illegal drug operations in the province hence they should police their own ranks.
Last February, CPPO personnel underwent drug test but no one tested positive for drug use.
