Davide to outline gains of first year as governor

By: Victor Anthony V. Silva July 06,2014 - 08:00 AM

ONE YEAR into his term, Cebu Gov. Hilario Davide III will give a status report of his administration’s accomplishments at 2 p.m. tomorrow at the session hall of the Capitol legislative building.

He said this would be a “report to the people” about what has been achieved in his five-star agenda following his assumption in June 30, 2013.

The report will serve as his first State of the Province Address (SOPA).

“The governor does not like the term SOPA, so we changed it to RTTP because that’s what it is,” said Provincial Information Officer Ethel Natera.

“It’s setting the tone for the rest of his term. The past year was just laying the groundwork,” she said.

Considering the short period and Davide being a first-term governor, the past year was mostly spent “housecleaning”, she said.

Less than 100 guests were invited, including congressmen, mayors and representatives from Capitol-accredited nongovernment organizations.

“We are considering the capacity of the session hall because it really is small,” said Natera.

Big-screen TVs will be placed in the lobby and the third and fourth floors of the legislative building for those who want to view the proceedings.

Davide’s five-star agenda covers:

– Health, education, youth, gender and social protection
— Food security and agriculture
— Economic opportunities in the countryside
— Environmental protection and enhancement and disaster preparedness
— Participatory and comprehensive master plan.
