Fr. Bryan Brigoli, 35, the former parish priest of Carcar City who is now with the San Carlos Seminary, was the only priest among the 2,500 participants.

He finished the race in seven hours, 31 minutes and 30 seconds.

He was at the 271st place.

“I want to achieve something and I thought of joining this very challenging sports event. I can call it a very difficult sacrifice which takes a lot of practice,  preparation and dedication. I want to share it as an example to the people and encourage them that life’s challenges can really be achieved,” he said.

It was his first Ironman event. He had participated, though, in the Xterra event held in Tabuelan town, Cebu.
