Unbeaten French striker Paul “French” Carrere said he will knock out Cebuano ground and pound specialist Lando “Alamid” Nacua in their scheduled match in the Cebu Extreme Fight League: The Beginning on Aug. 16 at the Cebu Coliseum.
The 23-year-old Carrerre has an advantage over Nacua since he already fought and won three amateur mixed martial arts bouts under the Unified MMA club. He said he is excited about the upcoming fight, especially since it is held in Cebu.
“I like it here in Cebu because the people are kind and always smiling,” he said. “I will do everything to win and I will surely look for a knockout win.”
But knocking Nacua out might be a tough task for Carrere. Nacua is fighting under the vaunted Yaw-Yan ArDigma Cebu MMA, which houses champions like Ground and Pound heavyweight champion Cris Thompson Brooks of Great Britain and kick boxing champion Renan “Flash” Noblefranca.
Yaw-Yan ArDigma Martial Arts founder Master Benigno “Ekin” Caniga Jr. is excited to witness the no-holds-barred showdown between Nacua and Carrere.
“There’s a lot at stake, especially for Nacua Jr. because he will be representing the country,” Caniga, also the promoter of the event, said. “But I know that he can pull off something good on fight night, that’s why I can’t wait to see the fight.”
Brazilian Jiu-jitsu stand-out Roy “Agilon” Bajar of Dumaguete City will be facing Muay Thai fighter Niño “Tatus” Saoy of Tatus Muay Thai and MMA Club in the co-main event. Bajar is also fighting under YawYan ArDigma Cebu.
The battle scarred veteran Johnjier “Excalibur” Torbiso of Durex Dragons Kick Boxing Club of Lapu-lapu City will test his luck against Ervin “Immortal” Musico of Deftac Dumaguete City.
In the female division, Angel Sanchez of Yaw-Yan ArDigma MMA will be fighting Bridgette Torbiso in her debut as an amateur MMA fighter while 10-year old Ken Caniga of YawYan ArDigma will go up against Dexter Sanchez in the kids division.
Also making his debut will be Ranran Lugo of Yaw-Yaw Simaron MMA, who will fight Etan Badayos while John Dulap of Project X MMA will square off against Tonilee “Black Bull” Castro. David “Venum” Po of SOMA Kickboxing will face Michael “Undisputed” Rabayos of Warrior MMA.
