LAPU-LAPU CITY, Philippines — Lapu-Lapu City Mayor Junard “Ahong” Chan has formally handed the certificates of commendation and cash incentives to 11 policemen from the Lapu-Lapu City Police Office (LCPO) who conducted a successful buy-bust operation that resulted in the arrest of a big-time drug personality and the seizure of P13.8 million worth of shabu.

The awardees were PCol. Arnel Banzon, LCPO director; PCol. Clarissa Gabutan, chief of the City Intelligence Unit; PMaj. Joey Bicoy, chief of the City Drug Enforcement Unit (CDEU); PLt. Noah Anana, Intelligence Operation Officer; PSSg. Jovil Tejana; PSSg. Ranel Guinita; PSSg. Rey Golisao; PSSg. Joel Coritana; PCpl. Robert Remollo; PCpl. Dennis Espinosa; and PCpl. Gilbert Ochia.

The award was given, due to LCPO’s successful arrest of a certain Mark Gil James Dangarang in a buy-bust operation at Sitio Saac, Barangay Mactan in May.

During the operation, policemen confiscated illegal drugs worth P13.8 million.

Aside from the certificates of commendation, Chan also handed over a check worth P30,000 as cash incentives to LCPO.

The City of Lapu-Lapu Office for Substance Abuse Prevention (CLOSAP), headed by Garry Lao, has also endorsed to the mayor to commend policemen who successfully arrested a high-value target (HVT) individual during a buy-bust operation at Barangay Babag, Cebu City on July 7, 2021.

The suspect was identified as Roldan Rosales a.k.a. “Shakira,” who is a resident of Sitio Sip-ak, Barangay Sudlon I in Cebu City.

The drug bust yielded 4.1 kilograms of illegal drugs estimated to be worth P27.880 million.

During the awarding ceremony, Chan also promised that he will give an additional P100,000 to LCPO as a cash incentive for that successful operation.

“We will give a certificate of commendations plus an incentive awards to our police force and I will also endorse this to the City Council (the July 7 operation) for an approval to give an incentive award of P100,000,” Chan said.

Banzon, for his part, thanked the mayor for his support to the Philippine National Police (PNP) and for recognizing their efforts.

He also promised the mayor that they will continue to campaign against illegal drugs and warned those who are involved in the illegal activity that they will apprehend them in due time.

“We will do more and we will strive more ang among kampanya batok sa ilegal nga drugas,” Banzon said.    /rcg
