CEBU CITY, Philippines — Finally, the Mindanao leg of the 2021 Chooks-to-Go Pilipinas VisMin Super Cup will return to its original venue, the Plaza Luz in Pagadian City, Zamboanga del Sur starting tomorrow July 17.

From its tipoff last July 7, the Mindanao leg games was held in another venue in Ipil, Zamboanga Sibugay which is a three-hour drive from Pagadian City, after the latter was placed under modified enhanced community quarantie (MECQ) until July 15th.

The league played its first six game days at the Zamboanga Sibugay Provincial Gymnasium in Ipil.

However, the league’s COO Rocky Chan officially announced that they would be returning to the original venue after Zamboanga del Sur was part of the areas in the country that had been placed under general community quarantine (GCQ) with heightened restrictions as Malacañang announced on July 15.

“Yes, the games will resume on Saturday, July 17 in Pagadian City,” said Chan.

The league has its own fair share of struggles in Ipil, after two games were forced to be rescheduled to the unplayable conditions of the court.

VisMin Super Cup triple-header

However, tomorrow, the league will likely have a smoother run as it’s finally back to its original venue.

And it will be quite a first day in Pagadian as a triple-header will be played.

With the league coming home to its original venue, it will first have its official opening ceremonies at 1 p.m.

The parade of teams will kick things off, but due to health and safety protocols, only the head coach; the team captain; and one homegrown player will represent their squads.

Opening the festivities at 2 p.m. will be Kapatagan Buffalo Braves (1-1) and the home team Pagadian Explorers (2-0). Following at 4 p.m. will be JPS Zamboanga City (1-1) facing ALZA Alayon Zamboanga del Sur (0-1).

At the nightcap, Jumbo Plastic-Basilan Peace Riders (1-0) will square off against Iligan City Archangels (0-2) at 6 p.m.
