LAPU-LAPU CITY, Cebu—The Lapu-Lapu City Government will open another isolation facility as soon as possible.

This Lapu-Lapu Mayor Junard “Ahong” Chan said after the city’s isolation facility at the Lapu-Lapu City College has already reached its full capacity of more than 300 patients.

The isolation facility will be placed at the Mactan National High School. It will be able to accommodate 270 individuals.

“Kinahanglanon na gyud kaayo,” Chan said.

(it’s really needed.)

Chan said that the start of the operation of the isolation facility will depend on the city council if they will approve their COVID-19 response budget of P40 million.

The budget was already presented by the Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (DRRMO) last Thursday, August 5, 2021.

Aside from this, the city also plans to transfer to the isolation facility COVID-19 positive patients from hospitals who only manifest mild symptoms of the virus.

Chan said that they are doing this so that they can accommodate COVID-19 patients who would manifest severe symptoms of the virus.
