CEBU CITY, Philippines — Kristina Belano bagged back-to-back weekly titles after she dominated last Sunday’s Cebu Executives and Professionals Chess Association (Cepca): Prexy Jerry and Chito Arki Blitz Series.

The 12-year-old Belano, who bagged the previous weekly tournament title, flexed her winning form anew by dominating the Cepcans B/Ladies category.

She finshed the two-hour arena-style competition with a total of 34 points besting eventual second placer Nicanor Cuizon who tallied 32 points.

Maria Kristine Lavandero rounded off the top three in the category with her 30-point performance.

Joseleo Cortes settled for fourth place with 25 points while Reynaldo Flores grabbed the fifth spot with 20 points.

Meanwhile, 42-year old Rosendo Yamyamin who placed fourth in the previous weekly competition bounced back strong after he grabbed the top spot in the All-Cepcans category.

He capped off his 11-round Swiss system campaign with a total of 9.0 points.

Antonio Cabibil landed at second place with 8.5 points tied with National Master (NM) Rogelio Enriquez Jr.

But their final ranking was based on their total tie-break points. Thus, Cabibil earned the second place while NM Enriquez Jr. grabbed the third spot.

Fourth to sixth placers were Jimmy Ty Jr., Archie Garson, and National Arbiter (NA) Lincoln Yap.

The weekly tournament last Sunday was sponsored by Cepca president Jerry Maratas and Cepcan Felimon Kapuno III.
