CEBU CITY, Philippines—Former World Boxing Association (WBA) interim featherweight world champion Jhack “El Kapitan” Tepora will end his two-year hiatus as he faces Ryan “Iron Man” Maano on December 17, 2021 in Bohol.

The 26-year-old Tepora will try to shake off some rust when he faces Maano, a journeyman and a fellow Cebuano.

Despite the disparity with regards to their records, Tepora said that he will not be complacent with this comeback fight. He added that he’s been training like it’s a championship fight for him.

“Dili jud ni angay kompyansa an ug gi andaman ni nako pareha sa pangandam nako sa mga championship nako,” said Tepora, who’s been seen training in various gyms around Cebu.

Currently, Tepora hasn’t revealed who his current promoter is and what stable he belongs to after his short stint with MP Promotions which landed him in big fights abroad.

Tepora last fought in December 12, 2019 in Ontario, California against unheralded Colombian foe, Oscar Escandon.

Tepora got knocked out in the first round and has never stepped inside the ring after that setback.

Nevertheless Tepora still holds an impressive record of 23 wins with 17 knockouts and one defeat while the 33-year old Maano only has 5 wins with 11 defeats, two draws and one knockout.

Maano only won two of his last eight bouts since 2017. His most recent defeats came from Omega Boxing Gym’s Carlo Bacaro in 2020 and Tomjune Mangubat in March this year.

The official venue of Tepora’s bout vs Maano is yet to be announced.
