Get ready for changes on the road today if you are driving or riding through Cebu City .
From 3 p.m. until early evening, four main streets will adopt a new traffic scheme where vehicles will share the road with pedestrians on a 50-50 basis.
“I advise the riding public, drivers and motorists to plan their day ahead and get out on the street befor we adjust the road,” said Joy Tumulak, Cebu City Traffic Operations Management (Citom) operations chief.
While no roads will be closed, vehicles will occupy two outer lanes while the two inner lanes will be used for people to walk or bike until 7 p.m.

The four roads form a quadrangle which symbolize the Cebu Green Loop Plan, a comprehensive urban planning design for a larger part of Metro Cebu. A kickoff ceremony will be held at 3 p.m. at the front steps of the Provincial Capitol.
Citom enforcers will stand at interesections to guide traffic. Tumulak said his men will start restricting road access an hour earlier at 2 p.m. to prepare for the road sharing scheme.
Half of the road will be used for pedestrians, persons with disabilities (PWDs), bikers, and skate boarders. Two-way traffic will flow on the outer lanes of the quadrangle.
“Everyone is invited. We have not invited specific personalities because this event is for everybody’s benefit,” said Marc Canton, MLC lead convenor.
Four drinking water stations will be set up along the route by the Metropolitan Cebu Water Disitrict.
